Position: Computer Programming/Computer Information Systems Technology (CIST) Program Instructor
Location: Athens Campus
Department: Division of Business Industry and Technology
Reports to: Program Chair for CIST Program and Divisional Academic Dean
Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits.

Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision instruct students in computer programming and information systems technology skill areas.
- Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines goals and objectives.
- Develops syllabi to meet program and school objectives.
- Evaluates students progress in attaining goals and objectives.
- Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests.
- Maintains program certification requirements as appropriate.
- Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
- Attends staff development training workshops seminars and conferences.
- Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
- Responds in a timely manner to administrative requests.
- Meets with students staff members and other educators to discuss students instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
- Assists with recruitment retention and job placement efforts.
- Maintains program certification requirements as appropriate.
- Demonstrates strong time management and organization skills.
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication.
- Contributes to the writing of accreditation and assessment reports.
- Demonstrates general computer knowledge (Microsoft Word Excel).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters degree in computer-related field (i.e. MBA in Business with CIS or MIS emphasis); MBA or Masters in Computer Information Systems; or a Masters degree with 18 graduate hours in computer courses that are taught at Athens Technical College.
- Two (2) years of experience teaching/training college-level CIS classes.
- Willingness to teach on multiple platforms such as classroom hybrid online.
- Microsoft Office concept and computer logic courses and computer industry certifications (such as network certifications).
- Excellent communication skills and work ethic.
- Commitment to student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience with academic course standards and SACSCOC Accreditation.
- Five (5) years relevant work experience.
- Extensive knowledge of a Computer Information Systems Technology (CIST) related field.
- Three (3) within the past five (5) years of work experience in the Computer Information Systems Technology (CIST) field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years full-time faculty college-level teaching experience; including online lecture hybrid and web-enhanced.
- Course development and experience using online teaching tools and online learning environment systems using Blackboard to supplement traditional classroom courses and/or hybrid or online courses.
- Experience with advisement retention and enrollment management for high volume programs with multiple credential layers and offerings.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word 2016 Excel 2016 PowerPoint 2016.
- Knowledge of establishment and evaluation of student learning outcomes.
- Demonstrate and display strong written and oral communication organization and interpersonal skills.
