The Fire Department City of New York (FDNY) seeks a full-time Supervising Computer Service Technician in the Bureau of Technology Development and Systems (BTDS) reporting directly to the Technical Desktop Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily support installation and monitoring of PCs printers applications and network devices. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
-This role plans organizes and oversees the daily operations of the Field Technical/Desktop Support team which directly supports desktops laptops printers and related equipment.
-Travel across all New York City boroughs to deploy repair and maintain IT equipment at multiple locations.
-Provides hands-on supervision mentorship and coaching to technical staff ensuring high morale skill development and accountability.
-Define and manage SLAs team goals and performance metrics that maintain high service quality.
-Develops and maintains hardware/software standards to streamline support processes minimize variability and reduce recurring issues.
-Oversees inventory procurement and deployment to ensure efficient use of resources and fiscal accountability.
-Serves as the liaison with internal teams vendors and consultants to ensure alignment of technical initiatives with organizational objectives.
-Represents IT in cross-departmental projects and ensures that technical requirements are met on time and within scope.
-Help enforce IT policies procedures and compliance standards ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
-Maintains departmental documentation including knowledge bases and service catalogs which are vital for continuity and audits.
The Technical/Desktop Support team plays a vital role in FDNYs public safety operations. The systems and devices supported by this team are used daily by Fire EMS and various FDNY personnel to conduct safety inspections access mission-critical applications and respond effectively to emergencies.
**Special Working Conditions: May be required to work shifts including nights Saturdays Sundays and holidays.

Qualifications :
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States Department of Education or recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in computer maintenance and repair one year of which must have been in the supervision of staff performing computer
maintenance and repair; or
2. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 above. Graduation from a certified technical training program in computer maintenance and repair may be substituted for one year of the general experience. Experience of the type described in 1 above may be substituted for high school on the basis of one year of experience for each year of high school. However all candidates must have the one year of supervisory experience as described in 1 above.
