About the Role
The rotor of a turbocharger operates under extremely demanding conditions. Ensuring the proper function of its bearing system across a wide range of operating environments is essential for safe and reliable performance. At Garrett we use advanced bearing technologies including journal and ball bearings to achieve world-class efficiency and durability.
As a student engineer you will:
- Learn about various bearing systems and their validation methods.
- Perform in-house simulations (shaft motion reliability) to predict system behavior and support physical testing.
- Review and optimize test methods to suit specific test conditions.
- Design and prepare test hardware including 3D and 2D design work parts measurement and instrumentation.
- Coordinate test preparation and execution in collaboration with the Garrett Test Laboratory team.
- Analyze and interpret test data summarize findings and present your conclusions.
- Contribute to broader turbocharger development activities including reviewing customer requirements and defining turbocharger architectures and boosting technologies (Wastegate Variable Nozzle Turbine e-Turbo).
Desirable BACKGROUND
- Student in last year (of Masters) of mechanical or electrical engineering
- Hands of experience in the areas of mechanical engineering understanding mathematical modeling and data processing.
- Experience with simulation tools Ansys Matlab 3D design modelling tools MS Office Suite
- Good communication skills in both written and spoken English (At least technical English level)
- Duration: minimum 6 months
