An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Wyre Council as our Conservation Officer to play a leading role in ensuring that development proposals respond to the diverse and rich historic built environment of Wyre.
The successful candidate will provide the Council and its customers with specialist advice and guidance on the historic built environment.
You will be part of a well-established planning policy team of outstanding and very friendly officers working within the Planning department. The service is involved in many corporate priorities and you would support a variety of corporate heritage led projects.
You would join the Council as we complete a review of our seven conservation areas with new appraisals and management plans due to be adopted in early 2026. The review will act as a catalyst to update our wider heritage evidence. You will also take a proactive role in identifying and protecting our historic environment including buildings at risk enforcement and via acquiring land or property of heritage value via Compulsory Purchase Order.
You must be a good communicator able to act as the expert witness at informal hearings public inquiries and court relating to conservation. It is essential you have effective negotiation skills and ability to undertake site position would suit somebody who has experience in historic built environment. Above all we are seeking someone with a passion for their subject who thrives on working as part of a team to achieve the best outcomes for our historic built environment.
