Job Summary

Position Objective

This Child Development Center Assistant Teacher supports a safe learning environment for children to learn school readiness skills and supports families within the Early Childhood Education Assistance (ECEAP) Program in partnership with the ECEAP lead teacher position. This position also is familiar with and supports the quality of care offered as outlined by the National Association of Young Children (NAEYC) Early Achievers and Department of Youth and Family (DCYF).

Duties and Tasks (Essential Functions)

Duty: Follow and implement daily routine care based on Early Achievers ECEAP and NAEYC Standards.
Tasks include:

  • Implement developmentally appropriate practice with children to support their social emotional physical cognitive and individualized needs.
  • Practice ongoing health and safety procedures for indoor and outdoor environment
  • Implement Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold to include: preparing documents on-line and supporting parent conferences in partnership with lead teacher.
  • Partner with the Lead Teacher in maintaining rearranging and assessing the classroom environment based on ECEAP and NAEYC standards

Duty: Communicate with a diverse population of adults and children and document/file accordingly.
Tasks include:
  • Build relationships through individualized communication style for each family.
  • Provide early learning services in a remote learning environment using platforms such as Teaching Strategies Gold CANVAS Zoom or MS Teams
  • Address concerns/issues of children in partnership with families Lead Teacher ECEAP Family Support and Center Director.
  • Implement positive interactions and guidance techniques with children based on the classroom environment family culture and circumstance.
  • Track document and file documents and paperwork on a weekly basis or as needed.
  • Communicate with families using the college provided systems to ensure personal contact information remains confident

Duty: Provide technical support for Early Care and Education students work study and volunteers
Tasks include:
  • Model appropriate language and interaction between children and adults and intervene to support when needed.
  • Coach and mentor students in accordance with center policies and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with the ECE Coordinators and Prog

Duty: Professional development and college support
Tasks include:
  • Attend staff meetings training and workshops to meet licensing Early Achievers ECEAP and NAEYC standards.
  • Participate in weekly classroom team meetings and curriculum planning.
  • Maintain required certifications for licensing.
  • Participate in CPTC campus meetings
Duty: Perform other duties as assigned.
Tasks include:
  • Support to other Hayes classrooms based on staffing needs.
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Manager or Center Director.
  • Clerical duties including filing printing scanning and copying

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
Position qualification met through either:

- 12 job-related credits
-or CDA Credentials or Washington State Early Childhood Education (ECE) Initial Certificate
- or Short Certificate of Specialization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AA Degree from an accredited institution in Early Care and Education
  • One year of experience working with children at a school or licensed child care center.
  • Knowledge of Early Achievers
  • Knowledge of ECEAP Standards
