The Director Freight Forwarding is responsible for leading business strategy operations and financial performance. The role ensures that all freight forwarding activities (air sea and road) are carried out efficiently profitably and in compliance with international trade regulations. The Director will drive business growth build strong customer and partner relationships and develop high-performing teams while ensuring service excellence and operational integrity across the supply chain.
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement business strategies to grow revenue expand market share and improve profitability.
- Identify new trade lanes services and partnerships to strengthen the companys competitive position.
- Provide direction to achieve both short- and long-term organisational goals.
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day freight forwarding activities (air sea and land) including customs clearance trucking and warehouse delivery.
- Ensure timely cost-efficient and compliant cargo handling customs clearance warehousing and distribution.
- Monitor and improve KPIs such as transit times service quality and cost efficiency.
Financial Management
- Manage P&L budgets and forecasts.
- Drive profitability through cost control pricing strategies and operational efficiency.
- Analyse financial performance and recommend corrective measures where necessary.
Business Development & Client Relations
- Lead sales and account management teams to achieve revenue targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers carriers and industry partners.
- Negotiate favourable contracts and service agreements.
Commercial
- Build and develop relationships with key customers.
- Develop strong partnerships with airlines and shipping lines to secure competitive rates.
- Coordinate monthly with the Director of Sales to align on strategy and business direction.
- Coordinate across the Transam International network and apply pushpull sales strategies.
Team Leadership
- Lead motivate and develop staff across operations sales customer service and administration.
- Foster a high-performance culture with accountability and continuous improvement.
- Recruit and train employees to ensure skill development and succession planning.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to international trade laws customs regulations and company policies.
- Oversee health safety and environmental compliance.
- Manage risk related to cargo delays damage and financial exposure.
Qualifications :
Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Logistics Supply Chain Business Administration or a related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years experience in freight forwarding or logistics with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Strong knowledge of air sea and road freight operations customs clearance and supply chain management.
- Proven track record in P&L management and business development.
- Excellent leadership negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and commercial mindset.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced international business environment.
