About the opportunity
The Team Leader Accommodation Operations is a key leadership role within the University of Tasmanias Campus Accommodation team which manages over 2500 student beds across multiple sites. This position ensures the delivery of a safe vibrant and student-focused residential experience by overseeing day-to-day operations and leading a high-performing customer service and administrative team. The role is central to implementing strategic initiatives managing the full accommodation lifecyclefrom applications and offers to arrivals departures and maintenance coordinationand driving continuous improvement in systems policies and processes to enhance operational efficiency and student satisfaction.
Beyond operational oversight the Team Leader plays an important role in data and systems analysis to inform decision-making and improve performance. The position also manages administrative and operational aspects of the Universitys Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) arrangement and collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Universitys strategic mission. Guided by the Residential Communities Strategy this role contributes to creating safe vibrant and uniquely Tasmanian residential communities where students can thrive underpinned by principles of being resident-focused collaborative innovative and sustainable.
What youll do:
- Manage strategic operations across multiple accommodation sites including implementing initiatives that impact service delivery and resident experience.
- Lead the Accommodation Operations team fostering a culture of service excellence collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Oversee accommodation services including student applications industry and conference bookings catering requests and room inspections ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Manage communication and stakeholder engagement acting as an escalation point and ensuring timely professional responses to internal and external enquiries.

- Proven ability to lead motivate and develop a diverse team across multiple sites to achieve shared goals with a focus on setting clear expectations providing feedback and fostering a culture of accountability and improvement.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks meet deadlines and manage competing demands. Demonstrated experience in understanding operational budgets contracts developing policy and partnerships to support strategic and operational outcomes
- Ability to work independently within established guidelines exercising discretion impartiality and sound decision-making in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service in a student-focused or client-oriented setting.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130943 comprising base salary within the range of $101821 to $111917 plus 17% superannuation.
