Full-time Non-Exempt Bargaining Position 4-10s Schedule: Monday - Thursday $61.13 per Hour
Benton PUD is looking for a skilled Meterman Journeyman to join our Operations team! If youre a certified journeyman with a passion for electrical metering safety and reliability we want to hear from you.
Youll be responsible for installing testing and maintaining metering instruments and SCADA equipment ensuring dependable service for our customers. This position offers hands-on technical work strong team collaboration and a chance to serve your community.
What We Are Looking For:
Journeyman certification in the Meterman craft
Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) adopted by Washington State

The primary purpose of this position is to install test program and maintain metering instruments controls relays and associated equipment and troubleshoot related problems.Accountabilities
- Support the Districts mission to serve our customers and foster a positive workplace by personally choosing behavior aligned with our values and ethical code.
- Responsible for contributing to safe operations by completing assigned work in a safe efficient manner that is in conformance with all applicable regulations.
- Responsible for ensuring communication system reliability by installing testing programming and maintaining metering instruments; controls; SCADA equipment; and relays and associated equipment.
- Responsible for ensuring District system reliability by testing installing and maintaining instruments and apparatus used in the distribution of electricity.
- Responsible for supporting District power quality by conducting load and voltage surveys.
- Ensure District system reliability by troubleshooting problems with metering control and relaying devices and circuitry.
- Support the Districts financial goals by assisting in preparation of the annual metering section budget.
- Responsible for contributing to safe efficient operations by installing removing and repairing communications equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Experience and Certifications
Required:
- High School or equivalent GED and satisfactory completion of an approved apprenticeship program for electrical utility metering
- Primary residence within 20 miles of Headquarters
- Journeyman certification in Meterman craft
- Must possess and maintain a Washington State drivers license
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification cards or obtain within 12 months of hire
ADA Requirement
- Attendance:Consistent need to attend work at the job site or work location. Frequent or constant need for punctuality.
- Physical Effort: The job has regular periods during which continuous physical exertion is required such as walking standing stooping climbing lifting pushing pulling material or equipment which is heavy or awkward up to 30 pounds (assistance is available for lifting in excess of 30 pounds).
- Environment: Usually in an outdoor environment with regular exposure to extreme weather conditions.
- Hazards: There is frequent exposure to hazards or risk of injury which are unpredictable or uncertain and which result in risk or personal injury.
- Sensory Attention: Typically requires regular use of one or more senses of high intensity and long duration including color vision.
- Job Pressure/Deadline Orientation: Under regular pressure to meet deadlines including occasional high-pressure situations; must occasionally deal with unpleasant issues related to people or situations.
