Why your role matters

The Administrator (Student Reception) provides high-quality administrative support and customer service at the reception of the Nura Gili Centre for Indigenous Programs. As the first point of contact for students staff and visitors the role manages on-the-ground enquiries assesses requests and correspondence and directs matters to the appropriate team. It also oversees day-to-day administration for the Nura Gili Indigenous Student Success Team ensuring services are delivered efficiently to support the Centres operations.

The position reports to the Deputy Director Nura Gili supports the Director Nura Gili and has no direct reports.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Contribute to a positive and dynamic Nura Gili community informed by culturally affirming values experiences and shared aspirations by creating a welcoming space maintaining effective channels of communication and responding to urgent and often sensitive matters appropriately.
  • Act as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and respond to a range of inperson telephone and email enquiries by prioritising requests and correspondence then actioning or escalating as necessary.
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Indigenous Student Success Team and oversee day-to-day administrative operations supporting other Nura Gili teams as required.
  • Provide effective specialist advice relating to administrative guidelines processes and activities.
  • Develop and maintain detailed filing systems spreadsheets databases websites and other administrative systems.

About You:

  • This position is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only.   • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to create positive vibrant and respectful relationships.
  • Demonstrated time management organisational and problem-solving skills including the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
  • Proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.
