Job Summary

F002 - Accounting Financial Manager - Hybrid position onsite as required - Due November 12 by 2pm

Position: Accounting Financial Manager

Location: Washington DC - Hybrid

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist District staff in carrying out the overall financial plans.
Manage the close process by ensuring accounting events are properly recorded in accordance with GAAP and that all entries are reviewed and accurate prior to release by the Accounting Manager in accordance with District Policy.
Assist with the annual financial audit and other audits by reviewing providing and/or producing schedules and reconciliations deemed necessary to secure a clean opinion.
Prepare and update policies and procedures for accounting processes; evaluate and improve the effectiveness of internal accounting controls; identify areas of risk; and ensure compliance with policies procedures and accounting standards.

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration Accounting or Finance.
CPA or MBA preferred but not required based on work experience.

Qualifications:

Minimum five years of financial and accounting work experience.
Expert knowledge of accounting in the areas of Cash and Accounts Receivable.
Working knowledge in the areas of Grants Bonds Retirement Plans and Unclaimed Property.
Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Demonstrated experience in the use of project management skills.
Strong analytical strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong leadership abilities.
Advanced proficiency in MS Teams MS Outlook and MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint).
Proficiency with Accounting and General Ledger Systems.
