About The Opportunity

This position is for a qualified Fitter within the Water Services Electrical & Mechanical Branch.

In this role youll be responsible for the installation commissioning and maintenance of mechanical equipment plant and apparatus across Council facilities. Youll play a key part in ensuring that all mechanical assets within water and wastewater operations are maintained to the required standards supporting the reliable delivery of essential services to the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carry out installation commissioning and maintenance of equipment plant and apparatus at Council facilities.
  • Operate and maintain equipment plant and machinery in accordance with Council requirements and manufacturer instructions.
  • Design manufacture procure and install mechanical/fabrication projects at various sites.
  • Undertake safety inspections condition assessments and record asset data in Water Services WMS.
  • Attend after-hours call-outs and participate in an on-call roster.
  • Maintain Councils water and wastewater pumping and treatment facilities where contact with waste materials and live sewer is likely.
  • Assist in the training of apprentices and contribute to staff development.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings work-related discussions and the development of procedures and work instructions.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Engineering Tradesperson (Mechanical Fitting and Turning) Trade Certificate.
  • Post-trade qualifications competencies and experience to the level of the position.
  • Current Queensland LR Class Driver Licence.
  • Current Confined Space Certification (including SCBA & Gas Detector).
  • Working at Heights Certification.
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Construction Induction (White/Blue) Card.
  • Knowledge of pumping equipment pipeline fittings fluid hydraulics and related systems.
  • Ability to implement quality control techniques and carry out inspections to operational standards.
  • Demonstrated time management communication and computer literacy skills (including WMS and Microsoft Office).

Desirable:

  • Elevated Work Platform Operations Certificate.
  • Working with Chemicals training (chlorine).
