Software Engineer Backend (Persistence)

About the Team 

The Data Access team is responsible for translating customers data requests from the ServiceNow platform and accurately querying the database using our home-grown SQL generation engine. This team is responsible for SQL generation into PostgreSQL MariaDB and Oracle databases as well as table management and database metadata.  

As a Software Engineer (IC2) on the Data Platform team you will have the opportunity to become a key member of the Platform Persistence group. Team members will be mentored in the necessary skills to become successful contributors to the team. 

Please Note: This position will include supporting our US Federal customers.  

This position requires passing a ServiceNow background screening USFedPASS (US Federal Personnel Authorization Screening Standards). This includes a credit check criminal/misdemeanor check and taking a drug test. Any employment is contingent upon passing the screening.  Due to Federal requirements only US citizens US naturalized citizens or US Permanent Residents holding a green card will be considered.

Qualifications :

To be successful in this role you have: 

• Experience in leveraging critical thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes decision-making or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools automating workflows analyzing AI-driven insights or exploring AIs potential impact on the function or industry.  
• Typically requires a Bachelors degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience. 
• Proficiency in backend development with experience in Java.   
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular React or Vue. 
• Strong knowledge of data structures algorithms object-oriented design design patterns and performance optimization  
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (e.g. JUnit Selenium TestNG) and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines 
• Understanding software quality principles including reliability observability and production readiness. 
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and optimize performance across the stack. 
• Experience with AI-powered tools or workflows including validation of datasets model predictions and inference consistency. 
• Comfort with development tools such as IDEs debuggers profilers source control and Unix-based systems 
• Relational Database Experience: Developing on troubleshooting and optimizing performance.  
• Good understanding of cloud-based and distributed systems. Knowledge and/or experience with relational databases: Oracle MySQL MariaDB MS SQL Server  
• Knowledge of databases data modelling and data storage technologies.

For positions in this location we offer a base pay of $111200 - $172400 plus equity (when applicable) variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications skill level competencies and work location. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
