The Supplier Quality and Sustainability Manager is responsible for managing and improving the quality performance of suppliers and managing MilDefs sustainability framework within the supply chain function. This role involves working closely with suppliers internal teams the Group Sustainable Lead and other stakeholders to ensure that the supply chain meets the organizations quality and sustainability standards compliance requirements and expectations on objectives and performance. The Supplier Quality and Sustainability Manager will play a key role in supplier selection qualification audits adherence to regulatory requirements managing the sustainability framework and ongoing quality and sustainability performance monitoring.
This role requires a blend of technical expertise in quality management sustainability frameworks and strong communication and negotiation skills to maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Regular travel is required for supplier audits and operational site reviews approximately 15 visits per year. The role is part of the group supply chain team and reports to the Director of Supply Chain.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers based on quality and sustainability standards capabilities and performance metrics.
- Conduct supplier assessments and audits driving ESG due diligence and climate impact reduction initiatives.
- Liaise and collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development Engineering Production and Purchasing teams to assess suppliers and ensure product quality standards are met throughout all stages.
- Work with suppliers providing support and guidance to resolve quality issues and implement root cause analysis for non-conformances.
- Track supplier performance and compliance documenting results and recommending improvements.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Lean Six Sigma) to enhance process efficiency and reduce defects.
- Provide technical guidance and training to suppliers and internal stakeholders on quality systems best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for supplier development and collaborate with suppliers to enhance their quality and sustainability systems and performance.
- Provide regular reports on supplier quality sustainability performance key risks and improvement plans ensuring all documentation complies with regulatory and company requirements.
What you bring
- Bachelors degree in engineering Quality Management Supply Chain Management or a related field. Certifications (e.g. Six Sigma 5s Kaizen WCM TQM) are a plus.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in supplier quality management supply chain sustainability supplier development or quality engineering.
- Strong experience in supplier audits sustainability frameworks risk management and quality system standards (e.g. ISO 9001 APAQ 2110 or other industry-specific standards).
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing automotive electronics or similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools (e.g. FMEA 8D SPC root cause analysis).
- Familiarity with sustainability standards and regulations (e.g. CSRD GRI ISO 26000).
- Strong problem-solving and data-driven decision-making abilities with experience in project and change management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data analytics tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Collaborative and proactive approach focused on driving innovation continuous improvement and long-term supplier relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both Swedish and English enabling effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
