Position Title: Special Education Teacher

School/Department: Clintonville Elementary School

Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Student Services

Union Affiliation: Teacher Contract

Summary

Will provide specialized instruction to students who are identified with a disability of Autism and

multiple disabilities in the special education classroom and general education classroom.

Education/Qualifications

Valid 065 Connecticut Certification

A minimum of field work experience at the college level

Responsibilities/Expectations

Implement model monitor and adjust a variety of instructional and social/emotional strategiesacross all settings restrictive settings regular classroom settings and non-instructional settings in cooperation with general education classroom staff
Experience conducting Functional Behavioral Analysis and writing behavioral support plans analyzing behavioral data
Ability to initiate productive communication to address student concerns with administration team members and parents.
Develop a daily/weekly schedule of instructional and non-instructional activities for each paraeducator that supports students on your caseload always with the intent to build students independence.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Planning and Placement Team process and legal and related compliance
Conduct appropriate evaluations and assist other teams in understanding the special education eligibility process for students with or suspected of having a disability including the use of state guidelines.
Demonstrate teacher-leadership qualities to bring initiative and innovation to the special education department in the above areas.
Handle with Care Training - or willingness to complete Handle with Care Training
