Position Title: Special Education Teacher
School/Department: Clintonville Elementary School
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Student Services
Union Affiliation: Teacher Contract
Summary
Will provide specialized instruction to students who are identified with a disability of Autism and
multiple disabilities in the special education classroom and general education classroom.
Education/Qualifications
Valid 065 Connecticut Certification
A minimum of field work experience at the college level
Responsibilities/Expectations
- Implement model monitor and adjust a variety of instructional and social/emotional strategiesacross all settings restrictive settings regular classroom settings and non-instructional settings in cooperation with general education classroom staff
- Experience conducting Functional Behavioral Analysis and writing behavioral support plans analyzing behavioral data
- Ability to initiate productive communication to address student concerns with administration team members and parents.
- Develop a daily/weekly schedule of instructional and non-instructional activities for each paraeducator that supports students on your caseload always with the intent to build students independence.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Planning and Placement Team process and legal and related compliance
- Conduct appropriate evaluations and assist other teams in understanding the special education eligibility process for students with or suspected of having a disability including the use of state guidelines.
- Demonstrate teacher-leadership qualities to bring initiative and innovation to the special education department in the above areas.
- Handle with Care Training - or willingness to complete Handle with Care Training
