Location: Auburn NY
Shift: 5x8s (08:0017:30) Must be flexible to work Day Evening Night Weekend & Holiday shifts as needed

Position Overview
This role involves supervising and supporting court-placed youth (ages 1220) residing in secure and structured therapeutic residential environments. The Youth Support Specialist plays a key role in ensuring a safe stable and developmentally positive environment while encouraging behavioral emotional and social growth.
Qualifications (Multiple Pathways Accepted)
Candidates may qualify through any one of the following:
2 years full-time direct care experience with youth ages 621 OR
Bachelors Degree OR
Associates Degree 6 months experience OR
High School Diploma/GED 1 year experience OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Direct care experience may include work within:
Juvenile justice programs
Youth rehabilitation or residential centers
Schools camps or community youth programs
Mental health or behavioral care environments
Key Responsibilities
Provide continuous supervision and maintain physical & emotional safety
Build supportive professional relationships with youth and staff
Participate in treatment planning as part of an interdisciplinary support team
Support youth experiencing stress or emotional escalation
Use harm-reduction and de-escalation strategies; intervene when necessary
Assist with daily routine recreation education and skill-building activities
Maintain family communication where appropriate
Help youth progress toward education employment and community reintegration goals
Background Screening Requirements
State & Federal criminal record check (fingerprinting required)
Child Abuse & Maltreatment Registry check
Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance
Full accuracy in application disclosure is required
Physical & Training Requirements
Must meet physical fitness and medical standards
Completion of 2-week mandatory training orientation
Ongoing training in crisis intervention and restraint techniques
Annual training refreshers required
