JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The López-Uribe Lab in the Entomology Department in the College of Agricultural Sciences is hiring a part-time employee to assist the labs Collection Manager on various projects in the lab. The person hired will be assisting primarily in the databaseand preparation of beespecimens. The person hired should have some experience working with insect specimens (pinning labeling digitizing databasing). Must have strong attention to detail.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Entering and checking bees in the lab bee database
  • Curating bees in the collection
  • Washing and drying bees
  • Other tasks as assigned

LOCATION AND COMMITMENTS

  • The work would be primarily at the López-Uribe Lab at the Agricultural Sciences and Industries Building on the University Park campus
  • 5-10 hours a week specific working times are flexible

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • The person in this position will primarily be working with Collections Manager Sarah Kania though supervision and direction will also come from Dr. MargaritaLópez-Uribe. Employee is expected to work mostly independently on some tasks such as databasing.

Compensation:

The starting rate for this job is $15/hour.
