Task Responsibilities:
- Managing and coordination of all Tax accounting and administrative duties of the Area 1 Finance department for the Americas. USA Canada Mexico Puerto Rico Brazil Colombia Ecuador Chile Argentina and others as required.
- Directing leading and coordination of accountants external auditors and tax consultants in each country to ensure financials and tax requirements are accurately calculated timely prepared and filed to ensure compliance with Federal State and local authorities.
Identify and mitigate potential risks in front of tax authorities in each country. - Ensure compliance with OECD requirements (Transfer pricing Pillar Two) in close cooperation with the Corporate Tax Team in Luxembourg for the Countries in Area 1.
- Budget monitoring and annual budget preparation of the department per cost center / country as well as assisting VP of the Americas with input and distribution of his assigned cost centers.
- Revision of journal entries payroll bookings month end activities reports and other financial and accounting activities as needed.
- Liaison between company and the tax consultants external auditors legal representatives and banking authorities (if needed) in each country.
- Issue and evaluate tenders/Bids. Select services providers for Area 1 for Administrative accounting external auditors and tax consultants.
- Assist the VP of the Americas with procurement and Area 1 administrative contracts. This includes issuance of tenders/BIDs for vendor selection on printers/copiers landline phones mobile phones supplies equipment and other administrative duties as needed. Conducts cost analysis ratio and other comparative examinations as needed.
- Ensures appropriate levels of confidentiality regarding company operations.
- Assist other Cargolux departments as needed and others as requested by management.
Essential Requirements For The Position:
- Bachelor or Master Degree in: Accounting & Tax / Finance / Economics; CPA license is desirable;
- Extensive experience in managing and coordinating Tax accounting and administrative duties including local tax and statutory filings
- Coordination of external consultants accountants tax advisors.
- Exposure / familiarity with Tax topics in the US and in Latin America;
- Good knowledge of accounting principles including local GAAPs and IFRS.
- Experience in managing teams across multiple jurisdictions and reporting to Senior Management
- Hands-on attitude; team management
- Years of experience: 5-10 years.
- Languages: English Spanish.
Working Conditions:
- The position holder is based in Houston Texas.
- The position demands a regular presence in the office and requires vacation and other absences to be planned so as to avoid conflicting with service needs.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Flexibility may be needed with working hours. The position holder shall keep informed his/her line manager on his/her whereabouts and the means of telecommunications through which he/she will be reachable for urgent company needs while on company mission.
