Job Summary:
This role is responsible for performing inspections assisting the Quality Manager in managing the QMS maintaining documentation control and supporting internal and external audits in compliance with AS9100 ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of metal components using calipers micrometers gauges and other precision instruments.
- Assist Inspector technicians by supporting the training of proper inspection techniques.
- Verify product conformance to engineering drawings specifications and quality standards.
- Document non-conformances and assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection results test data and quality reports.
- Review customer and supplier quality issues and provide timely feedback.
- Assist Quality Manager in overseeing and managing the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure all quality documentation is properly filed traceable and compliant with AS9100 ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Support document revision control and distribution of updated procedures and work instructions.
- Assist in preparation and execution of internal and external audits.
- Participate in corrective action planning and follow-up activities post-audit.
- Complete PPAP and other forms of product qualification.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and implement process improvements.
- Support initiatives to enhance product quality reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- All other activities as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment preferably aerospace or metal fabrication.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards.
- Proficient in using precision measurement tools and interpreting technical drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail organizational skills and communication abilities.
- Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and ERP software is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in interpretation of specifications and engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Soft skills required: team player with the ability to work independently strong written and verbal communication skills patient and detail oriented.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering supply chain project management and operations.
- Demonstrate basic understanding of lean principles.
- Problem solver as an individual and leading a group.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing floor and office environment.
- May require standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
