Your Opportunity

Our SHIFT Service provides alcohol and other drug (AOD) outreach treatment and support to young people aged 1225 across the Perth Metropolitan area. Operating from a person-centred and harm reduction framework SHIFT offers one-on-one counselling case management and group-based therapeutic and educational sessions.

A full-time opportunity has become available for a Psychologist or Provisional Psychologist to join our vibrant and supportive team based in Northbridge. This is an on-site position with regular placements in other Mission Australia offices. The role is ideal for someone passionate about working with at-risk youth and contributing to a multidisciplinary team focused on improving outcomes for young people experiencing AOD-related challenges.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of young people providing up to 34 one-hour appointments daily with ongoing support for up to 12 months.
  • Provide clinical advice and guidance to the SHIFT team including consultation supervision and training.
  • Facilitate psychosocial education groups and coordinate appointment planning and follow-up documentation.
  • Review referrals and assess the need for specialist support ensuring appropriate models of care are applied.
  • Maintain accurate client records and reporting requirements using Mission Australias case management systems.
  • Liaise with external support agencies and contribute to service planning and staff meetings.
  • Support safety and crisis planning during sessions and collaborate with case managers and program managers post-incident.

Requirementsfor Success

  • A Bachelor of Psychology and eligibility or registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people facing complex AOD and mental health challenges.
  • Proven ability to apply therapeutic approaches and conduct risk assessments in clinical settings.
  • Strong case management assessment and referral skills with experience in youth-specific services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in maintaining client files and confident using information management systems.
  • A positive person-centred approach and commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • First Aid Certificate is desired but not essential.
  • Full driver licence with no restrictions.

Before starting work with us you will need to undertake a national police history check qualifications and referee checks and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
