Description
The successful candidate will provide outpatient psychiatric care in our clinic conduct consultations for adult patients in the ED & inpatient medical units & work closely with a multidisciplinary teamincluding physicians LCSWs & RNsto ensure holistic patient-centered care. Emphasizing the integration of mental & physical health addressing substance use disorders & supporting patients across the behavioral health spectrum including forensic populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical and psychosocial evaluations to diagnose psychiatric and substance use disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans including evidence-based medication management and therapeutic interventions.
- Provide psychotherapy sessions to support patients in managing and improving their mental health.
- Collaborate with physicians therapists nurses and other clinical staff to deliver coordinated and compassionate care.
- Deliver psychiatric consultations for adult patients in the ED and inpatient medical units.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses treatment options and strategies for long-term wellness.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (Cerner preferred).
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Strong clinical expertise in both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
- Ability to integrate physical and mental health into patient care.
- Skilled in building rapport with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication collaboration and systems-thinking skills.
- Commitment to providing trauma-informed culturally competent care.
Qualifications
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Tennessee.
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years healthcare experience including 13 years in Behavioral Health.
- Experience providing direct care for adults with conditions such as anxiety depression PTSD chemical dependency eating disorders and other psychiatric diagnoses.
- Prior experience with EMR systems (Cerner strongly preferred).
- Direct experience working with underserved and culturally diverse populations.
