Our client a medium-sized plum farm near Stellenbosch is looking for an experienced Packhouse manager to run their small/medium-sized packhouse which packs fruit (mainly plums) for the export market.
Our client a medium-sized plum farm near Stellenbosch is looking for an experienced Packhouse manager to run their small/medium-sized packhouse which packs fruit (mainly plums) for the export market.
Duties & Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be:
Fully bilingual with good communication skills;
Have a proven track record in all aspects of packhouse management from fruit intake to containerization;
Have thorough knowledge of the computerized Vitrax system relating to the entire packhouse cycle;
Be familiar with a 4 lane pack line with optical sorter and have a basic mechanical knowledge;
Manage all cold room facilities;
Ensure that the packhouse complies with all fruit and export industry protocols and industry standards such as BRC Globalgap etc.;
Supervise and manage a staff complement of 100 persons during the season;
Requirements:
Have strong organizational and administrative skills;
Be comfortable liaising with farm managers suppliers marketers and exporters.
Be able to determine packaging requirements and order accordingly.
The position is available immediately and a competitive salary is offered.
