Job Summary
Port Shepstone Area KwaZulu-Natal: As the primary on-site leader you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining operational excellence while driving business growth in the region. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the development of a biochar carbon removal venture in South Africa. You will be managing the team on-site building relationships with local partners and ensuring the plant runs efficiently and safely.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrated experience in operational management roles.
- Extensive experience in agricultural forestry manufacturing or industrial operations management
- Strong understanding of general production processes quality control and supply chain management
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to work independently.
- Experience in business development and stakeholder management
- Strong problem-solving abilities and technical aptitude
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices preferred but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills
- Preferred but not essential: Bachelors degree in Agroforestry related field Engineering Business Administration or other related field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee daily operations of the biochar production facility ensuring efficient production processes quality control and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Manage end-to-end supply chain operations including raw material procurement production scheduling and product shipment coordination.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local customers suppliers and stakeholders while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the region.
- Hire supervise and develop the local team fostering a positive work culture and ensuring high performance standards.
- Manage facility maintenance troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions to minimize operational disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations.
