Job Duties:

This is a position for a regional anesthesiologist or general anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with occasional teaching opportunities to residents and medical students. If appointed on the CHS track duties will also include education and research components.

The successful candidate will teach medical students residents and fellows. The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Duties for appointment to the Clinician Teacher (CT) track: Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room plus evening and weekend call ) in an anesthesia team model.

Duties for appointment to CHS track: Major teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students in the operating room and didactic sessions. Primary emphasis of teaching will be in general anesthesia procedures and techniques or in area of subspecialty training. Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia. Opportunity for participation in clinical research for interested candidates.

  • This position is full or part time 60%-100%

  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person onsite at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely at an offsite non-campus work location.

  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor or Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor or Professor (CHS) or Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

  • Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors (does not pertain to physicians/providers who work with minors): This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Negotiable 12 month

Required Qualifications:

  • WI Medical license by start date of position

  • Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology by start date of position

  • Completion of Anesthesiology residency program and certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by start date.

Education:

MD DO or equivalent is required

This position will be a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.

The department will not be able to support a request for a J-1 waiver. If you choose to pursue a waiver and apply for our position neither the UW nor UWMF will reimburse you for your legal or waiver fees.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment. University sponsorship is not available for this position.
