Role and Responsibilities
The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for new powered conveyor products. This includes designing control panels programming PLCs and HMIs creating wiring schematics and ensuring proper system integration to achieve safe efficient and reliable operation across all conveyor systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design specify and develop control systems for powered conveyor systems and related industrial equipment.
Create detailed electrical schematics wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
Develop and test PLC and HMI programs for control monitoring and diagnostics.
Specify and integrate sensors drives relays and other control components ensuring standardization across product lines.
Collaborate with mechanical and production teams to integrate electrical and control components during design and build phases.
Assist with new equipment installation system commissioning and field troubleshooting.
Provide training and technical support to production and maintenance teams.
Participate in Lean and continuous improvement projects to standardize wiring methods reduce costs and improve system reliability.
Coordinate with vendors and customers regarding control strategies testing and documentation.
Monitor and control project costs to meet budget and schedule targets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Associate or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechatronics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 3 years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation preferably in material handling or conveyor systems.
Proficient in PLC and HMI programming.
Skilled in electrical schematic design software.
Strong understanding of motor control systems VFDs relays and 24VDC control circuits.
Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic control systems.
Familiarity with ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems and Lean manufacturing principles.
Excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook Word Excel) and ERP/MRP software.
Positive self-directed attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
Physical requirements
Walking Standing Sitting Kneeling (Frequently).
Lifting Carrying up to 50 pounds (Occasionally).
Exposure to variable temperatures (Occasionally).

May require overtime or weekend work to meet project deadlines or support system commissioning.
