Position:Head Boys Track Coach
Season Dates: 3/2/26- 5/31/26
Location: Deer Park High School
PURPOSE STATEMENT
To provide knowledge motivation and leadership in an activity in which the student can excel to full potential while competing in an atmosphere that adds to total education including physical well being moral character and social and mental development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Instructs athletes regarding techniques rules and safety practices of the sport
- Develops and organizes practice program in conjunction with assistant coaches.
- Schedules and conducts practices according to agreed upon schedules.
- Supervise athletes from the scheduled beginning of the practice or game until the last athlete is picked up knowing where all participants are at all times
- Supervise athletes on buses on trips to other schools
- Promotes the entire interscholastic program of the school and directs the program in harmony with the total school program
- Sets an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct including respecting and supporting contest officials
- Fosters among the participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics an attitude of good sportsmanship and a sense of pride in self team school and community
- Promotes a healthy lifestyle to student athletes
- Adheres to all safety laws and district policies
- Follows the injuries care and prevention procedures of the Deer Park School District
- Reports injuries to Athletic Director
- Supervises assistant coaches and communicates and monitors expectations
- Recognizes and adheres to any athlete health plans
- Communicates with parents in a timely proactive and professional manner

- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 19 or older for Assistant Coach and 21 or older for Head Coach per WIAA rules
- Must have current First Aid/CPR certification or be able to acquire it by the start of the season
- Understand the activity/sport its safety practice techniques rules and progression of skill development
- Previous applicable coaching experience required
- Successful head football coaching experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated successful experience building relationships with players parents and the community required
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Demonstrate positive attitude toward students and ability to motivate them toward developing a successful program
- Be able to consistently meet schedule responsibilities for practice coaching preparation competition and related activities
- Ability to plan practices events and organize all the necessary materials and persons to carry out the activity
- Ability to develop players toward goals of improved skills knowledge of the game leadership and commitment to team
- Ability to work with students colleagues parents and officials in a positive professional and equitable manner

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:
25-26 Stipend: $4911 - $7229 per season depending on experience.
