Job Summary

Hammond Summer Programs begin on Monday June 1 2026 and conclude on Friday July 31 2026. Our Summer Programs provide an opportunity for campers to develop skills and interests in a variety of areas ranging from sports academics and arts to fly fishing and Lego Robotics. Attendees range in age from 3 years old to rising 6th graders with a summer full of fun age-appropriate activities in addition to a variety of hands-on enrichment opportunities. Summer camps are typically offered for one-week on a daily basis from 9:00 AM 12:00 PM 1:00 PM 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM 4:00 PM. Summer Program Instructors/Vendors may limit registration for their respective program(s) to certain age groups to ensure activities are appropriate for all attendees.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Plan each week to ensure engaging age-appropriate activities are enjoyed by enrolled campers
  • Take and report daily attendance
  • Assist with daily camp arrival and dismissal at designated locations
  • Review each campers registration which includes emergency/allergy/health information
  • Assist in maintaining cleaning and straightening of the designated classroom or area before during and after the program as needed
  • Actively engage children throughout the scheduled summer camp program activity
  • Follow all Summer Programs procedures and policies to ensure the safety of all campers in the program

Qualifications:

  • Joyful approach to and prior experience working with children
  • Knowledge of the subject matter and/or certified to teach the summer program or camp
  • Knowledge of classroom/program management and instructional strategies
  • Ability to maintain a positive and enthusiastic professional attitude
  • Ability to take initiative and make effective decisions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexibility and dependability

Reporting: The Summer Program Instructor/Vendor role reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
