Your opportunity

The successful candidate will support our planning environmental science and engineering technical groups across this role you will: assist with engagement processes related to the Duty to Consult; support relationship-building efforts with Indigenous communities through project consultation; help integrate Indigenous Knowledge into assessment and planning; and support socio-cultural and Aboriginal and Treaty rights impact assessment processes. Our teams work with a range of public private and Indigenous clients on a variety of exciting projects across the country including infrastructure environmental assessment and planning projects.

We are looking for an Indigenous Rights Engagement Specialist to join our team in Vancouver.

This position requires working in-office a minimum 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Technical Execution and Project Support

  • Support the collection of Indigenous Knowledge as well as and socio-cultural and traditional land and resource use data collection.
  • Perform and coordinate background research compilation synthesis and analysis.
  • Support baseline programs and effects assessments with respect to Indigenous peoples including Aboriginal and Treaty Rights and cultural impact assessments.
  • Conduct qualitative data analysis and interpretation.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and deliverables in line with best practices and appropriate cultural protocols.
  • Support Indigenous community consultation and engagement programs and activities.
  • Support socio-economic data collection and assessments as required and appropriate.

Learning and Development

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Contribute to Dillons corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications

  • A degree in social sciences geography resource management Indigenous studies anthropology archaeology or a related field.
  • 1 to 2 years of directly relevant experience preferably in the consulting industry.

Experience

  • Experience working on federal and provincial environmental assessment projects.
  • Experience working with and/or for Indigenous communities in Canada in the areas of Indigenous Knowledge traditional land and resource use and socio-cultural assessments.
  • Verbal and written communication report writing and interpersonal skill.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete multiple project demands within tight timelines.
  • Adaptive and responsive in the face of emerging challenges and opportunities.
  • Highly developed critical thinking skills.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Able to work across multiple time zones as needed.

Compensation

Dillon is including the salary range that we in good faith believe may offer for this position. It will be dependent on the successful applicants education experience and skills in addition to internal equity and geographic region. Dillon reserves the right to pay outside of the posted range contingent on factors unrelated to an applicants gender or other status protected by provincial and/or federal law.
