Position Summary
The MSCI (Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction) Program Director will oversee the elementary and secondary Teacher Certification Programs and report directly to the Assistant Dean of Academic Operations in the School of Education at CUWAA (Concordia University Wisconsin and Ann Arbor). This individual will ensure the integrity and high quality of these programs aligning them with the standards and expectations of the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- To oversee the administration and faithful execution of the MSCI programs as well as the educational infrastructure required to achieve university and program outcomes
- To teach courses within in the MSCI programs (no stipends or TCs will be given for student teaching courses)
- To ensure that all program curricula remain rigorous relevant and aligned with CUWAA missional expectations certification standards with a focus on continuous improvement innovation and excellence in teacher preparation.
- To collaborate with instructional designers to maintain and enhance online learning experiences leveraging innovative approaches to meet Concordias standards for quality and engagement.
- To manage all clinical placements and experiential learning opportunities for candidates fostering meaningful connections between theory and practice
- To oversee the hiring support and development of adjunct faculty and cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset in faculty members to explore new methods tools and strategies that enhance learning outcomes and align with Concordias faith-based mission.
- To serve as the primary liaison to the MDE and CAEP overseeing compliance with state and national accreditation requirements including the submission all required reports and documentation to these accrediting bodies accurately and in a timely manner
- To prepare and submit annual assessment reports to Concordia University as required
- To develop and execute innovative strategic marketing and recruitment approaches (working in conjunction with Admissions and Marketing) to enroll education and teacher candidates interested in public education roles and those called to serve in Lutheran/Christian education settings
- Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
- Highly qualified Christian (non-LCMS) applicants possessing a graduate degree in education and progress towards or willingness to obtain a doctorate will be considered.
- Prior P-12 teaching experience is required (minimum of 3 years); prior college teaching experience is desirable. Concordia University seeks faculty dedicated to excellence and to the mission of developing students in mind body and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world.
Preferred
- A commissioned minister of religion status in the Lutheran Church/Missouri Synod and a doctorate in education are preferred (or ABD status with completion in progress)
- Valid Michigan teaching license (or previously held license) or equivalent license from another state preferred
- College/university-level teaching experience
- Experience leading university teacher preparation programs
- Scholarship and service contributions in the field of education
