God Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental healthcare provider that specializes in trauma recovery services for males of color ages 5 and up. GRO services are grounded in an understanding of the neurological biological and psychological effects of trauma. GRO services include mental health and wellness stress management and community outreach.
Position Overview
The Media & Publications Specialist is responsible for leading the development production and distribution of GROs media projects including the launch and ongoing publication of the GRO Magazine and the development of a Reentry Podcast. This role combines creative content production storytelling youth/participant engagement and technical skills in digital media. The Specialist will also support workforce development participants by teaching media-related skills and providing hands-on training in both on-camera and behind-the-scenes roles.
Key Responsibilities
Media & Content Development
- Lead the planning writing editing design and production of the quarterly GRO Magazine featuring program updates participant stories community resources and reentry-focused content.
- Produce launch and manage GROs Reentry Podcast including episode planning scripting recording editing and publishing.
- Develop engaging multimedia content (audio video social media photography and print) that elevates program impact and participant voices.
- Maintain brand standards and ensure all published content aligns with GROs mission values and messaging.
Participant Training & Facilitation
Design and facilitate hands-on training workshops for participants on media and communication skills including:
- On-camera presentation interviewing and storytelling
- Podcast hosting and guest preparation
- Technical production (audio/video equipment lighting editing and software)
- Writing for media (scripts articles social posts)
- Support participants in producing their own media projects as part of workforce development experience pathways.
- Mentor youth and returning citizens in developing communication professionalism and technical media skills.
Project Management & Collaboration
- Create project timelines manage content calendars and ensure consistent and timely publication of media products.
- Collaborate with staff community partners and participants to source story ideas coordinate interviews and develop meaningful content.
- Build partnerships with community media outlets local influencers and subject-matter experts to expand reach and visibility.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience in media production journalism communications or digital content creation.
- Proficiency with audio/video editing and publication tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite Canva Audacity Premiere or similar).
- Strong writing storytelling interviewing and editing skills.
- Comfort facilitating workshops or training youth/young adults or adult learners.
