Job Summary

Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position will conduct investigations in accordance with the DELJIS rules and regulations. The incumbent will also assist with security audits reviewing automated arrest notifications and assist with user and agency profile maintenance along with other job duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.   • Conducts investigations of all suspected or reported incidents of misuse and/or unauthorized access to the CJIS.
  • Presents the DELJIS Board of Managers with facts of administrative investigations and may be required to testify in court proceedings.
  • Audits user activity monitors access of flagged records and conducts internal audits to ensure agencies are compliant with all applicable laws rules regulations standards policies and procedures.
  • Reviews arrest notifications of authorized users to determine if the charges and nature of the offense poses a threat to the security and integrity of CJIS.
  • Processes user requests for access to the CJIS including the review of background check results.
  • Designated as an alternate Information Security Officer (ISO) to assist with creating modifying and disabling user accounts as needed.
  • Assists in drafting and maintaining agency and user agreements.
  • Assists in creating and modifying agency and user security levels to ensure access controls align with provisions outlined in authorized agency and user agreements.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for DELJIS Investigator
Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  1. Three years experience in planning developing coordinating and implementing investigations.
  2. Three years experience in determining compliance with laws rules regulations standards policies and procedures.
  3. Three years experience in narrative report writing.
  4. Three years experience in civil criminal or administrative proceedings.
  5. Three years experience in providing testimony before boards commissions administrative bodies or court officials.
  6. Knowledge of using an automated criminal justice information system to retrieve/inquire and report on criminal justice data.
