6 Month Contract With A local Authority
Purpose of the Role
The Outreach Employment Advisor will support residents who have been out of work for longer periods and may need extra help to move back into employment. Working as part of the Bexley Business & Employment (BBE) team you will help remove barriers to employment by providing tailored advice guidance and signposting to relevant BBE and partner services.
This role involves delivering employability support through outreach and community engagement promoting BBEs programmes and services and helping residents to access training and sustainable employment.
Where required by specific programmes the postholder will deliver support using both Individual Placement and Support (IPS) and the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) models.
Key Accountabilities
Recruit and onboard clients to employability programmes managing a caseload of participants and delivering effective job search support.
Motivate and assist residents in job search activities including benefits and economic assessments while developing realistic individual action plans.
Attend and represent BBE at community outreach events such as job fairs open days redundancy projects and other local initiatives.
Deliver IPS and SEQF support models in line with fidelity standards following a "place and train" approach to ensure residents receive appropriate services.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of Government employability initiatives to provide informed support and align delivery with policy objectives.
Plan and deliver group sessions or workshops covering employability topics such as introductions to the service CV writing interview skills job clubs and application form completion.
Ensure all onboarding and client documentation is accurately completed tracked and audited in line with GDPR and programme compliance requirements.
Produce regular reports on caseloads programme starts and performance outcomes maintaining accurate records to substantiate results and claims.
Promote BBE services digitally including through social media (TikTok X Instagram) the BBE website and partnership communications with the Councils corporate comms team.
Review and develop operational processes to ensure services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Maximise the use of digital tools and new technology to enhance service delivery and resident engagement.
Manage own workload and prioritise tasks to meet performance and programme targets.
Maintain current professional knowledge and understanding of employment skills and welfare policy.
Build effective working relationships with partners employers and colleagues to deliver joined-up services.
Support occasional out-of-hours work where necessary (e.g. job starts or community events).
Actively promote and support the Councils safeguarding and equal opportunity policies ensuring the welfare of all service users.
Requirements
Experience working in a public recruitment or employment support environment helping individuals achieve job goals (Essential)
Knowledge of the Welfare to Work and benefits system (Desirable)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to use databases effectively (Essential)
Experience managing your own caseload and achieving outcome targets (Essential)
Understanding of the barriers people face in accessing employment (Essential)
Awareness of data protection and information security best practice (Essential)
Ability to engage clients using a range of communication methods (face-to-face digital telephone etc.) (Essential)
Experience working collaboratively with internal and external partners (Essential)
Proven ability to work independently meet deadlines and report on progress (Essential)
Excellent spoken and written English; able to communicate confidently and clearly (Essential)
Ability to listen actively and tailor communication to different audiences (Essential)
Confident in delivering workshops or group presentations (Desirable)
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands (Essential)
Self-motivated proactive and results-driven (Essential)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data appropriately (Essential)
