METER Group is seeking a highly motivated Data Engineering & Analytics Intern to play a key role in building our next-generation data platform. This position will be focused on developing a robust datalake within Microsoft Fabric and leveraging that data to create powerful Power BI dashboards. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with strong technical skills in Python SQL and Power BI who is passionate about turning raw data into actionable insights. This is a hands-on opportunity to help build a data-driven culture from the ground up working directly with the IT team and business leaders. This role works from our Pullman WA office. For informational purposes the entire payrange for this role is $22.69 -$29.83. However we expect to make an offer somewhere between $25 and $29.83. Please keep this in mind when applying for this role. - Strong Python Proficiency: Demonstrated experience using Python for data manipulation scripting and automation (familiarity with libraries like Pandas is essential).
- Advanced SQL Skills: Ability to write complex queries perform data transformations and understand database and data warehousing concepts.
- Power BI Experience: Proven ability to build reports create data models and write DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for complex calculations.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT: Knowledge of data pipeline architecture and the principles of Extract Transform Load (ETL) and/or Extract Load Transform (ELT).
- Data Modeling Concepts: Familiarity with data modeling techniques (e.g. star schema) to structure data for efficient and accurate analysis.
Additional Qualifications: - Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science Data Science Information Systems or a related field.
- Direct experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure data services (e.g. Azure Data Factory Synapse Analytics).
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git).
- Knowledge of REST APIs for data extraction.
- Basic understanding of corporate accounting.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are important.
- Datalake Development: Design build and maintain data ingestion pipelines within the Microsoft Fabric environment to populate the new datalake from various company data sources.
- Data Transformation: Author robust data cleansing validation and transformation logic using Python and SQL to ensure high standards of data integrity and reliability.
- BI Dashboard Creation: Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements then design develop and deploy intuitive and accurate Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Process Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation for all data sources transformation logic data models and BI reports to ensure long-term maintainability (in line with ITIL best practices).
