Job Summary
Position: Registered Nurse Correctional Care
Location: Marcy NY 13403
Shift: Nights 5x8 hours (10:00 PM 6:00 AM)
Contract Length: 2652 weeks
Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
Position Overview:This role provides nursing care within a correctional environment. The nurse will assess monitor and support individuals with diverse medical needs while ensuring patient safety adherence to clinical standards and proper documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct nursing assessments and document health histories and vital signs.
Prepare individuals for exams and assist providers with treatments and procedures.
Administer medications and perform prescribed nursing interventions.
Develop implement and modify nursing care plans.
Provide clinical instruction and delegate appropriate tasks to support staff.
Observe and record patient symptoms conditions and response to treatment.
Participate in treatment team discussions to coordinate patient care.
Make clinical rounds to evaluate care and patient needs.
Provide health education counseling and guidance to individuals and staff.
Implement and reinforce infection control procedures.
Maintain compliant accurate medical documentation and records.
Monitor and maintain supplies medications and equipment availability.
May assist in scheduling reporting and performance feedback for nursing support staff.
May supervise unit operations during assigned shifts.
Requirements:
Active RN license (State of New York).
Previous clinical nursing experience required; correctional experience is a plus.
Ability to work independently in a secure environment and make sound clinical judgments.
Strong communication and patient advocacy skills.
Vaccination Requirement:
COVID-19 vaccine required (medical exemption considered per state guidelines).
