Job Summary
Listed Sales and Trading team is a diverse and inclusive technology team. We are responsible for designing developing and maintaining high-performance global electronic trading systems for Morgan Stanley. We work directly with our institutional users including traders sales product managers and external clients to help enable new businesses advance the platform and manage their risk.
Our massively scalable trading systems cover a wide-range of financial products from equities derivatives ETF FX commodities bonds swaps and cross-asset instruments. We support ranges of trading systems capabilities from fully automated low-latency order handling to highly complex and customized workflow required by our advanced users. We develop cutting-edge systems that are transforming our key business and enable transactions to occur in microseconds.

We are looking for an exceptional software engineer to apply your engineering skills to enhance our trading system capabilities for our clients and businesses and to drive our system architecture transformation to next generation cloud-centric leveraging micro-services architecture aligning with our DevOps and Agile strategies.
The candidate will have great opportunity to learn from and influence across a range of businesses and asset classes while collaborating with a talented group of individuals both locally and globally. Work directly with business facing specialists infrastructure leads and stakeholders in different development teams in a high-pace environment.
Your Responsibilities and Opportunities
- Design develop and deploy our high-performance trading systems
- Work in Agile squad directly with business partners to define priorities and deliver solutions
- Collaborate with other experienced developers to drive our system architecture transformation
- Interact directly with Product Owners and traders to understand and deliver business requirements
- Help define our software development and DevOps practices working with the vibrant tech community within the firm
- Receive trainings on technical and business knowledge to understand the systems and be productive on your assignments Your Skills and Talents
- Strong passion for technology software development and elegant solutions to difficult problems
- Strong computer science fundamentals including a understanding of data structures algorithms software design and programming concepts
- Experience in development of large-scale applications in one or more object oriented languages (C Java or Python)
- Ability to collaborate with team members on solutions to address challenges and roadblocks
- Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with a sense of ownership and drive
- Continuous improvement mindset and dedication to finding ways to improve
- Preferred: Experience working in Agile teams and an understanding of Agile practices
- Preferred: Understanding of open source server technologies (Redis gRPC Kafka ElasticSearch)
- Preferred: Understanding of DevOps tools and technologies (Git Jenkins Ansible)
- Excellent communication skills including experience speaking to technical and business audiences
- Bachelors Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
