Maryland Office of the Inspector General for Health Baltimore MD

Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland Office of Inspector General for Health is an independent state agency responsible for identifying Fraud Waste and Abuse of Maryland Department of Health (MDH) funds. This position shall maintain confidentiality and impartiality when conducting their duties. The Chief of Staff works closely with the Inspector General (IG) in the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Inspector General (OIGH) and on special projects as necessary. The incumbent is a trusted advisor and resource that serves as the critical link in communication between the IG and OIGH staff and stakeholders. The incumbent is responsible for key programs including communications legislative affairs organizational development internal controls budget human resources and Diversity Equity Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) programs. This assists the OIGHs mission to protect the integrity of the MDH and promote standards that benefit the citizens of Maryland and beneficiaries of its programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and six years of health or human services administrative or professional experience including three years at a supervisory or managerial level. A Masters degree from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the general experience and a Doctorate will substitute for two years of the general experience. Additional experience will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the college degree.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with a proven ability to lead direct and motivate team members while managing competing deadlines. Experience in a senior management role is highly desired along with adaptability problem solving abilities and a strong understanding of business operations and budget management.
