The Greater Sydney Branch Regional Delivery is calling for expressions of interest for a temporary Conservation Assessment Officer position in the Ecosystems and Threatened Species team. This role supports the delivery of key conservation initiatives under the Saving Our Species (SoS) program.

The role delivers threatened species conservation projects in the Greater Sydney region under the Saving Our Species program and other funding sources and includes corporate and legislative tasks related to conservation of threatened species and communities. The successful applicant will design manage and report on conservation projects liaise with key program stakeholders and delivery partners on a day-to-day basis and lead relationships with other agencies in the region involved with SoS work such as Local Land Services National Parks and Wildlife Service and local councils.

Youll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive effective program delivery develop tools and databases prepare technical reports and provide input to ministerial correspondence. The position involves fieldwork for various flora fauna and fungi conservation projects across the Greater Sydney region including the Blue team is collaborative friendly and committed to delivering meaningful conservation outcomes in our region and across NSW.

About You
To be successful in this role you will need to be able to work both independently and collaboratively think critically make decisions and build and maintain relationships. We are looking for someone with experience delivering conservation projects including assessing work plans operating within procurement frameworks conducting fieldwork collaborating with conservation partners and contractors and meeting project deadlines. The ideal candidate will have experience in ecological survey and proficiency with GIS mapping tools.

Essential Requirements

  • A current Drivers Licence.
