Provides learning experiences and teaches the course of study prescribed by the Norwood Public Schools approved curriculum. Teaches knowledge and skills in the field of music which may include general and instrumental music to secondary students utilizing the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum. Provides instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about music. Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction demonstration and working time. Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and artistic abilities and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive rehearsal environment. Instructs students in proper care and use of appropriate equipment organizes and monitors storage and performance areas to prevent loss or abuse. Evaluates each students performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding; and prepares progress reports and communicates with parents and classroom teachers on student progress. Selects and requisitions instructional materials books instruments etc. and maintains inventory reports. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Fine Arts and/or Building Principal.
