Job Summary

Description

Lead the delivery of vehicle dynamics attributes for Ford and Lincoln programs while building the tools and processes that make our team more efficient and more effective.

Manage a team of engineers and partner across Vehicle Engineering and other functions including body chassis controls systems and software to deliver confident consistent ride handling steering feel and brake control performance.



Responsibilities

Champion a culture that ensures a motivated fulfilled and high-performing Vehicle Dynamics team.

Own the delivery of ride handling steering and brake controls from initial target setting through sign-off across multiple programs.

Direct virtual development (e.g. CarSim/Adams) to guide designs early in architecture process.

Utilize a combination of driver-in-the-loop simulation methods and prototype testing to optimize component specifications for vehicle attributes.

Communicate status risks and clear recommendations to leadership.

Create and improve methods and processes that drive both quality and efficiency.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • 5 years experience leading managing and mentoring a large team.

  • Deep understanding of Vehicle Dynamics first principles related to ride handling steering and braking.

  • Experience leveraging Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulators for vehicle dynamics development and validation

  • Proficiency with multi-body dynamics and parametric simulation tools (e.g. Adams CarSim) to conduct trade-off studies and guide architecture development.

  • High-Level drivers training and vehicle subjective evaluation experience at a Tier 3 or higher level. Experience with limit off-road and/or circuit.

  • Proven experience tuning and optimizing vehicle dynamics systems including suspensions steering systems brakes and tires to meet specific attribute targets.

  • Fundamental understanding of modern chassis controls systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Calibration experience with chassis control systems such as Electric Power Steering (EPAS) ABS/ESC brake controls and/or semi-active damping systems.

  • Experience developing or utilizing Hardware-in-the-loop benches for chassis component or controls validation.

This position is a leadership level 6.
