Job Title:Computer Technician

Primary Purpose:
The Computer Technician is under the general direction of the Director of Technology and the direct supervision of the Computer and MD Manager. Will respond to help desk tickets and deliver support to all campuses and departments in the district for all employees and students. The technician will program routine settings on systems including desktops printers network devices servers mobile devices and software. Use discretion and judgment to organize and perform requested services promptly.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associates Degree from a two-year college or technical school in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science (preferred)
- A Certification(preferred)
- Apple Certified Support Professional - Mac OS X (preferred)
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Experience:
- 3 years of computer or related equipment service experience
- 1 years experience working repairing and configuring mobile devices (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft and Mac OS in regards to installation configuration and maintenance
- Understanding of mechanical electronic and computer principles as applied to the repair and maintenance of computers and peripherals.
- Wireless network (Wi-Fi) setup and troubleshooting experience
- Analysis and investigation skills with a structured approach to problem solving
- Outstanding customer service skills as well as strong verbal and written communication strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Install configure and maintain commercially developed operating systems including Novell Netware OES MS Windows 7 MS Windows 8 Mac OS X and associated peripheral hardware to both new workstations on a networked environment
- Install configure and maintain instructional and administrative application software on Microsoft and Mac OS computers and laptops
- Support all campuses and departments with all mobile devices such as iPads iPods Android Windows
- Provide support to all end users including identifying researching and resolving technical issues.
- Respond to telephone calls e-mails and help desk tickets for all related issues
- Install approved software releases system upgrades and patches and resolve software related problems
- Inventory new equipment to assist in minimizing loss
- Receive and transport new equipment; pickup and delivery of district equipment for repairs as needed
- Interact with district staff and students to resolve issues pertaining to technology
- Willing to work before or after normal operating hours to minimize district downtime when an adverse situation occurs.
- Maintain a sense of urgency while dealing with multiple tasks and turning around services requests and repairs as quickly as possible.
- Perform other IT functions as workflow permits
- All other duties as assigned.

- Comprehend technical concepts and complex applications
- Coordinate several projects simultaneously

Posture: Prolonged sitting; walking crouching reaching regular kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting climbing balancing visual acuity and/or be mobile repetitive hand motions
Motion: Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension reaching. Sensory ability needs-Significant: hearing near vision far vision peripheral vision color discrimination depth perception extended hours of mental focus and concentration.
Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (up to 40 pounds); occasional heavy lifting and carrying (40 pounds and over)
Environment: Work is performed in an office environment; frequent on-call and after-hours work. Physical Exposure to sustained or frequent cold heat and dampness. Frequent district-wide travel to district facilities in personal vehicle. Works with unusual noise levels low or intense illumination moving objects hot conditions and may work alone for long periods of time.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; emotional control under stress. Work with frequent deadlines. Ensures a high level of diplomacy with all district personnel. The employee is occasionally required to drive District vehicles in the performance of assigned tasks. Adapt to new situations and challenges in a calm and directed fashion as circumstances demand. The employee is required to demonstrate an above average degree of concentration analyzing and emotional control. Average skills are required in communication verbal and written interpretation understanding verbal instructions differentiating memorizing reading coordinating compiling computing and instructing.
