ACES is seeking an accomplished Senior Database Engineer to provide advanced engineering modeling and data analysis support to the Naval Sea Logistics Center (NAVSEALOGCEN). The Senior Engineer will lead and perform Readiness Based Sparing (RBS) modeling and reliability analyses that directly improve Navy system readiness and lifecycle logistics decision-making. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in data modeling systems engineering and logistics sustainment. This role requires both independent technical expertise and the ability to guide junior engineers in meeting quality schedule and performance goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in logistics engineering business administration or a related field. Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant engineering experience in support of Department of Defense (DoD) or U.S. Navy programs. Proven success performing reliability modeling engineering analysis and lifecycle logistics assessments.
  • Technical: Proficiency in Readiness Based Sparing (RBS) modeling using tools such as OPUS Suite (OPUS and SIMLOX) or equivalent simulation software. Ability to build and analyze Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs) and Functional Block Diagrams (FBDs) to evaluate system performance availability and cost tradeoffs. Experience with Navy data systems such as DECKPLATE OARS ReMAD and MBPS/Windchill for retrieving and validating logistics configuration and maintenance data. Strong understanding of reliability metrics including Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and operational availability (Ao).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development of Navy Readiness Based Sparing (RBS) models. Use OPUS Suite and related tools to generate accurate data-driven readiness models that balance system performance with total ownership cost.
  • Collect review and validate technical data packages. Ensure engineering documentation configuration files and provisioning data meet required quality and formatting standards before model input.
  • Conduct comprehensive system analyses. Evaluate system configurations mission profiles and part criticality to determine optimal spare part recommendations and onboard repair part (OBRP) allowances.
  • Develop and maintain Reliability and Functional Block Diagrams. Map interdependencies redundancies and mission paths to determine how component failures affect overall system performance.
  • Integrate multiple data sources. Pull configuration maintenance and allowance data from Navy systems such as DECKPLATE OARS and ReMAD to support modeling accuracy and traceability.
  • Perform Monte Carlo simulations. Run system performance scenarios to calculate operational availability and predict readiness outcomes under varying conditions.
  • Document and present findings. Prepare detailed engineering reports cost and performance summaries and results visualizations to support technical reviews and decision meetings with NAVSEALOGCEN and program stakeholders.
  • Support quality assurance and process improvement. Participate in peer reviews identify process efficiencies and recommend modeling improvements to enhance consistency and accuracy.
  • Coordinate model reviews and updates. Collaborate with In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEAs) and Program Managers to review preliminary model results and implement revisions based on feedback.
  • Mentor junior engineers. Provide technical guidance training and review of analytical outputs to ensure adherence to established engineering methodologies and data management standards.
  • Contribute to readiness review boards and customer meetings. Provide technical insight during reviews of model results and system provisioning packages to support readiness and re-provisioning decisions.
