Job Title: Sterile Processing Coordinator

Location: Long Beach CA
Contract Type: 13-Week Contract to Permanent
Shift: 2nd Shift 3:00 PM 11:30 PM
Pay Rate: $34/hour

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Coordinator to lead and oversee day-to-day sterile processing operations. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient workflow regulatory compliance and high-quality outcomes while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This position is responsible for supervising sterile processing technicians and ensuring adherence to all sterilization standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise sterile processing technicians and coordinate daily shift assignments to ensure adequate staffing and workflow.

• Oversee all decontamination assembly sterilization and distribution processes for surgical instruments and equipment.

• Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs) and internal SOPs.

• Conduct quality assurance audits and verify accurate and complete documentation.

• Provide training mentorship and competency assessments for sterile processing staff.

• Manage equipment maintenance calibration and issue resolution in collaboration with maintenance teams.

• Work with leadership on scheduling timekeeping and achieving operational goals.

• Partner with surgical and clinical teams to ensure the timely delivery of sterile instruments.

• Promote a culture of safety infection prevention and regulatory compliance across all operations.

• Communicate effectively with staff and leadership regarding performance workflow and service concerns.

• Assist with inventory management and the replenishment of sterile supplies.

• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and track departmental KPIs.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

• Provide direct supervision and leadership for all sterile processing staff during assigned shift.

Qualifications:

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education:

• College degree or three (3) or more years of leadership experience in sterile processing.

Required Certification:

• Certification in Sterile Processing (CRCST).

Preferred Certifications:

• Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS).

• Healthcare Leadership Certification (HSPA-CHL).

Skills & Experience:

• Proven leadership and team coordination experience in a sterile processing or healthcare environment.

• Strong knowledge of sterilization standards infection control practices and quality assurance principles.

• Excellent organizational communication and problem-solving skills.
