We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Coordinator to lead and oversee day-to-day sterile processing operations. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient workflow regulatory compliance and high-quality outcomes while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This position is responsible for supervising sterile processing technicians and ensuring adherence to all sterilization standards and procedures.
Supervise sterile processing technicians and coordinate daily shift assignments to ensure adequate staffing and workflow.
Oversee all decontamination assembly sterilization and distribution processes for surgical instruments and equipment.
Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs) and internal SOPs.
Conduct quality assurance audits and verify accurate and complete documentation.
Provide training mentorship and competency assessments for sterile processing staff.
Manage equipment maintenance calibration and issue resolution in collaboration with maintenance teams.
Work with leadership on scheduling timekeeping and achieving operational goals.
Partner with surgical and clinical teams to ensure the timely delivery of sterile instruments.
Promote a culture of safety infection prevention and regulatory compliance across all operations.
Communicate effectively with staff and leadership regarding performance workflow and service concerns.
Assist with inventory management and the replenishment of sterile supplies.
Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and track departmental KPIs.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Provide direct supervision and leadership for all sterile processing staff during assigned shift.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education:
College degree or three (3) or more years of leadership experience in sterile processing.
Required Certification:
Certification in Sterile Processing (CRCST).
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS).
Healthcare Leadership Certification (HSPA-CHL).
Skills & Experience:
Proven leadership and team coordination experience in a sterile processing or healthcare environment.
Strong knowledge of sterilization standards infection control practices and quality assurance principles.
Excellent organizational communication and problem-solving skills.
