The Role:

Position Overview:

Its the Ingalls First-Class Electrician that brings our ships to life. Their work supplies power to the weapons and combat systems which in turn keep our military and our nation safe. Job Description:
An Ingalls First-Class Electrician also called a Electrical Journeyman is responsible for the layout installation and repair of shipboard cables lighting and electronic equipment as well as the ships power. Electricians utilize an assortment of hand and power tools a variety of test equipment along with a working knowledge of blue prints drawings and schematics. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights confined spaces different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard an Electrician may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting and most times exceeding industry standards.



Must Have:
  • Minimum 4Ç Yrs. experience in the commercial industrial or marine electrical field
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements
Nice to Have:
  • One (1) year shipboard experience (sonar radar power internal communication navigation etc.).
