PROVOST AND VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
Holyoke Community College (HCC) invites confidential applications and nominations for the position ofProvost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (Provost). This is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary compassionate and innovative leader to advance equitable student success and academic excellence at Massachusettss first two-year public institutionone of the Commonwealths most dynamic and community-centered colleges. The successful candidate will be a transformative student-centered leader who fosters collaboration and creativity in shaping the academic and student experience at a college deeply committed to access achievement and meaningful community impact.
Located in Holyoke Massachusetts HCC is the Commonwealths first two-year college. It began in 1946 as the city-sponsored Holyoke Junior College. Today HCC a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) since 2016 is housed on a multi-million-dollar 135-acre campus equipped with state-of-the-art technology in specialized learning fiscal year 2024 HCC enrolled 7391credit and non-credit students. The college offers a range of recreational and cultural activities including sports programs and music festivals for both students and community members. HCCs strongest assets continue to be an innovative spirit a sincere concern for students and a commitment to strive for even greater success.
Reporting to the President the Provost serves as chief academic and student affairs officer. The Provost provides strategic leadership in the planning development implementation and assessment of educational offerings academic programs student learning outcomes enrollment management and student support services. The Provost works closely with the President and the college community to implement the College Strategic Vision using evidence-based data for student success and retention.
Some of the required qualifications for the next Provost include:
- An earned terminal degree from an accredited university
- Demonstrated effective leadership in areas such as academic planning program development advising student orientation student mental health and behavioral support disability services first-year experience veterans services and student life/government preferably at a community college
- Experience collaborating with workforce development programs and an understanding of the intersection of workforce and academic programs and initiatives such as the non-credit to-credit pipeline
- A distinguished record of teaching preferably in higher education scholarship and collegiate service with a thorough knowledge of higher education principles practices and future trends. A successful track record of earning promotion and tenure
