Job Summary

As a Lead Annotator at Nagish you will build and manage our annotation team define high-quality labeling standards and support the development of tools and training platforms that accelerate our sign language research. Youll play a central role in scaling our data operations and ensuring that annotation quality is consistent accurate and deeply informed by the Deaf and SignWriting communities.

On a day to day you will:

Design annotation protocols and define labeling standards
Contract train and manage a team of annotators (ideally from the SignWriting community)
Oversee QA and annotation reviews either directly or by establishing a review hierarchy
Collaborate with engineers and researchers to improve annotation tooling and workflows
Track annotation velocity consistency and quality across contributors
Help design and iterate on a SignWriting training platform

Requirements:

Background in linguistics or sign language (preferably both)
Familiarity with SignWriting is strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience in managing people and projects
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Experience developing educational or training content
Experience managing annotation teams or workflows is a plus
Working hours are aligned with the Eastern Time Zone
Compensation: $60K-$90K per year depending on experience and qualifications
