Job Summary
Mechanical Designer
Location: (Remote Philippines)
Compensation: Philippines: USD $1000$1600/month

Schedule: Full-time; core US business hours (Central Time). Remote hires: Mo-Fr 8-5
About the Role
A growing manufacturing company specializing in trench shoring systems and custom heavy fabrication products is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join their Engineering / R&D team.
The role focuses on turning concepts into production-ready designs CAD modeling 2D drawings BOMs and manufacturability checks while collaborating closely with Production Quality and Sales. Remote hires must be proactive in communication and documentation to ensure smooth workflows.
About the Candidate
- 37 years mechanical design experience in steel/aluminum fabrication construction equipment or heavy manufacturing
- Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks preferred AutoCAD acceptable) and production-ready 2D drawings
- Advanced Excel (MSSuite) non-negotiable
- Knowledgeable in weldments plate/structure design machining and materials
- Able to translate sketches measurements and customer requirements into BOMs and manufacturable designs
- Excellent communicator across engineering production and sales
- Problem solver focused on manufacturability cost and safety
- ERP/MRP or PLM experience highly preferred
- Strong written and verbal English
Nice-to-have:
- FEA tools experience (SolidWorks Simulation ANSYS)
- OSHA / trench shoring safety knowledge (very minor)
- Shop floor or CNC machining exposure
Responsibilities
- Produce 3D CAD models assemblies and detailed 2D production drawings
- Generate and maintain BOMs and revision-controlled release packages
- Collaborate with engineering teams as needed
- Produce vendor drawings and material lists
- Support continuous improvement (cost lead time assembly)
- Perform basic structural checks and coordinate with engineers on safety/FEA
- Respond to field/service requests with design updates
- Participate in prototype build/test cycles
Must-Have
- SolidWorks or equivalent CAD proficiency
- Production drawing skills
- BOM creation and release documentation
- Strong written and verbal English
