We are hiring a Building and Maintenance Assistant
The Building and Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining and repairing the companys building and facilities ensuring a safe and functional work environment for all employees. This role involves conducting regular inspections identifying and resolving maintenance issues and performing preventive maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regular inspections of the companys building and facilities are conducted to identify maintenance needs.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs filters and other consumables.
- Carry out minor repairs including plumbing electrical and carpentry work.
- Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs and renovations on approved projects.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all facilities and equipment.
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and asset conditions.
- Recommend and implement improvements to the preventive maintenance program and schedule.
- Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies tools and equipment.
- Monitor stock levels and place orders for necessary items.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of maintenance supplies and tools.
- Ensure the maintenance storeroom is kept in pristine condition.
- Provide regular updates to the procurement manager on the status of maintenance projects and the required preventative maintenance.
- Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance tasks and minimize disruptions.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Proficiency in using various maintenance tools and equipment
- Knowledge of building systems including plumbing and electrical
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field
- Matric Certificate or equivalent; trade school certification preferred
