The Role
We are seeking a motivated Intermediate Electrical Designer/Engineer to join the team focusing on the design and delivery of electrical systems for data centres and mission-critical facilities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex projects develop your technical expertise and grow within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for data centres and critical facilities including power distribution UPS systems backup generators and low-voltage systems.
- Prepare electrical design drawings specifications and calculations using industry-standard software (e.g. AutoCAD Revit BIM).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including senior engineers mechanical designers and project managers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes standards and regulations (e.g. BS EN IEC CIBSE ASHRAE).
- Conduct site surveys and support feasibility studies to inform project planning.
- Assist in the commissioning and handover processes to ensure system performance and reliability.
- Contribute to project documentation and coordinate with clients and stakeholders as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data centre and critical systems design.
What Were Looking For
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 35 years of experience in electrical design preferably with exposure to data centres critical systems or similar infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering electrical design projects from concept to completion.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Revit or other relevant design software.
- Knowledge of power systems including MV/LV distribution UPS and backup power solutions.
- Familiarity with industry standards for data centre design (e.g. Uptime Institute TIA-942) is an asset.
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modelling) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with project teams and clients.
- Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Eagerness to learn and grow under the guidance of senior team members.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Working toward Professional Engineer status () or equivalent professional Accreditation.
- Data centre-specific certifications (e.g. CDCDP ATD or similar) are a plus.
