Job Summary

The role requires the successful candidate to have a full drivers licence and access to a vehicle.

Newport Complex Pathway Accommodation services supports a range of individuals and families who have experienced homelessness and have varying needs such as mental health issues substance misuse issues and learning difficulties. As an Engagement Project Worker you will engage customer into meaningful activity and liaise with them and their Key-worker to help achieve their support plan and goals.

You will play a key part in enabling individuals to achieve their goals and empower them to lead independent lives.

Every day is different and every day you would learn new skills and have the opportunity to work with a variety of agencies such as housing DWP social services and health visitors.

This role is based in our Newport Accommodation services but part of your role will be to engage with customer accessing support services. This may mean holding engagement activities and sessions away from scheme.

Day to Day Duties:

  • Engaging and interacting with the people we support
  • Engaging with education training and employment opportunities
  • Writing and following a support plan with the individual you are supporting
  • Delivering workshops relating to tenancy management and health and wellbeing
  • Liaising with external agencies and Key-Workers
  • Supporting with external appointments to GPs and job centres
  • Organising and participating in activities and day trips
  • Dealing with any conflict that arises
  • Addressing any additional needs the people we support might have
  • Maintaining and establishing new links and existing links with partner agencies to provide social inclusion opportunities and activities that promote wellbeing.

Our motivation is to ensure we equip these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role and you will be faced with complex behaviours and needs including alcohol misuse mental health substance misuse victims of domestic abuse care leavers refugees and offending behaviour. You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours so you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse cliental.

What are the pay and benefits

  • Fixed-term or Secondment (5 months) full-time (37 hrs)
  • The exact salary for this position is 26072.00 FTE
  • Work pattern:4 week rolling rota Monday Sunday. Days/ Evenings starting from 9am - minimum of every other weekend (flexibility required depending on needs of customers)
  • 26 days holiday pro rata entitlement plus Bank holidays. Rising to 27 days after 1 years service or cash equivalent of 1 days annual leave.
