As a Data Scientist at Aurizon youll create innovative data-driven insights that help Australias largest rail freight operator achieve its strategic and operational goals. Youll work with cutting-edge platforms and projects that drive smarter more sustainable business decisions all while being part of a team that values diversity innovation and continuous learning.

What youll do

Partner with business teams to identify opportunities and deliver impactful data science solutions.
Apply advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to uncover patterns predict outcomes optimise processes and solve real-world problems.
Build and maintain scalable models and tools that support decision-making.
Translate complex data outputs into clear actionable insights for stakeholders.
Contribute to best practices in data governance integration and innovation.

About you

A degree in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics mathematics computer science engineering) and/or minimum 2 years equivalent experience.
Experience applying statistical and machine learning methods to complex datasets.
Proficiency in Python and SQL or similar tools and libraries.
Familiarity with cloud or big data platforms (e.g. Fabric Azure or similar).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear approachable way.
