Job Description
This position provides academic and student support for Virginia Techs growing Department of Entomology in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences reporting to the Department Head. The Graduate Program Coordinator will provide ongoing support for current students and newly admitted students offering guidance and resources to ensure student success throughout their academic journey. This includes receipt and processing of graduate applications monitoring student progress assisting with course registration addressing student concerns and connecting students to relevant academic resources. The program coordinator will also help manage student communication ensuring that students are kept informed of important deadlines policy changes and opportunities for engagement and serve as a liaison between the program the Entomology Graduate Student Director Department Head the Graduate School and university student service offices.
Duties will include also production of management and teaching load reports entry of graduate student tuition remission & funding entering courses on university scheduling system oversight of faculty grade entry and order textbooks. Make travel arrangements submit expense reports. Department key control maintain classroom calendars.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint or similar software; Experience providing support in an office environment; Experience using independent judgment in applying policies and procedures; Experience working independently in a goal oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of university policies and procedures; Experience with various education data systems (e.g. Banner HokieMart); Experience working in an academic environment and with graduate students.
